An individual who spiked treats with sleeping medication and provided them to children at a youth camp in Leicestershire has admitted sexual crimes against two children who were between nine and ten.
The accused was detained after eight children and a grown-up fell ill at the location in July.
The 76-year-old, from that region, confessed to a total of 17 charges when he appeared at Leicester Crown Court on Friday.
Yet, he disputed one particular crime he was facing, which was against a nine-year-old child.
The accused was held in detention before a additional proceeding on November 28th.
'Candy game'
The legal representative, handling the case, outlined Ruben's offending to the judicial body.
She stated his targets were under-privileged children who were staying at a summer program which he ran.
The man played a "sweet game" with the children, Mrs Prior said, in which he would go into the sleeping quarters when they were getting ready for bed and request they to ingest treats "rapidly".
She told the court the defendant had played this game with the young males "for many years", and youngsters had earlier experienced illness the next day.
She explained Ruben had been able to explain this for many years as the children being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepchild had suspicions in recently.
Mrs Prior KC stated further: "In the summer" his family member had concerns about the situation, for good reason.
"They chose" to have a look in the individual's items."
Mrs Prior KC explained objects including baby oil, petroleum jelly and injection devices were located, and his stepchild notified the authorities about his concerns.
She said the defendant went on to play the "candy game" with six children that evening - that Saturday - and they were all sick the following morning.
"Authorities" had not gone out by that point," she continued.
The regulatory agency, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, previously told that it was reviewing law enforcement's management of the situation.
The legal representative explained the youngsters were having difficulty walking due to their sickness, so the family member notified the police again.
She explained Ruben then engaged in the "treat game" in a room of five youngsters.
